Part-Time Ranch Hand
The Part-Time Ranch Hand is responsible for the daily care and well-being of ranch animals, upkeep of the ranch grounds, and completion of basic maintenance and repair tasks. This is a hands-on position requiring someone who is dependable, hardworking, comfortable working outdoors, and able to work independently.
The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized ranch environment and is comfortable working around animals, equipment, tools, and changing weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Animal Care
• Feed and provide fresh water for ranch animals according to established schedules.
• Monitor animals for changes in behavior, health, or condition and report concerns promptly.
• Clean and maintain stalls, pens, shelters, and animal areas.
• Assist with moving, handling, and securing animals as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary animal environments.
• Assist with basic animal care tasks as directed.
• Follow proper animal-handling and safety procedures.
Grounds & Property Maintenance
• Mow grass and maintain lawns, pastures, and landscaped areas.
• Trim weeds, brush, and overgrowth.
• Maintain fences, gates, posts, and other property features.
• Keep driveways, walkways, barns, sheds, and common areas clean and free of debris.
• Assist with pasture and general land management.
• Remove fallen branches, leaves, and other property debris.
• Maintain a neat, safe, and presentable ranch property.
Basic Maintenance & Repairs
• Perform basic repairs and upkeep on fences, gates, buildings, stalls, and equipment.
• Assist with minor carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general maintenance.
• Safely operate common hand tools and power tools.
• Perform routine inspections of equipment and property and report problems that require additional attention.
• Help maintain and organize tools, supplies, and equipment.
• Assist with seasonal preparation and other ranch projects as needed.
General Responsibilities
• Follow all ranch safety policies and procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Use equipment, vehicles, and tools responsibly.
• Communicate effectively with the Ranch Manager/Owner.
• Complete assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Be willing to assist with a variety of ranch-related projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Previous ranch, farm, landscaping, construction, or animal-care experience preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of animal care and safe animal handling.
• Comfortable working around large animals and farm/ranch equipment.
• Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
• Dependable, responsible, and self-motivated.
• Able to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality of work.
• Ability to follow directions and prioritize multiple tasks.
• Comfortable working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work for extended periods.
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor tasks.
• Ability to safely work around animals, equipment, tools, and uneven terrain.
• Ability to work in hot, cold, wet, and other changing weather conditions.

The ideal Ranch Hand is someone who is reliable, hardworking, trustworthy, and not afraid to get their hands dirty. They should enjoy working outdoors, take pride in caring for animals and property, and be willing to jump in wherever help is needed.
