We blasted off into outer space for Quarter 3! Our students became astronomers and learned all about our solar system. We practiced using astronomy tools, including constellation maps and a telescope. We imagined life aboard the International Space Station and ate astronaut food. Finally, we built and launched model rockets. We started with simple paper straw rockets and balloon rockets that were powered by air. Then we built bottle rockets powered by a bike pump and water pressure. The older groups advanced to solid-fuel rocket engines that we ignited with an electrical charge.
